Trip to Hongkong

Ok a short summary of my trip there:

flight: Tiger Airways from Singapore to Macau 280SGD return- 4h flight
ferry: Macau-Hongkong: 150-175HDD one way, takes 75min
currencies: 12 HDD (Hongkond Dollars)= 1 euros, in Macau HDD are accepted everywhere (at the same rate as Macau Money)
accommodation: Chungking Mansions on Nathan's road in Tsim Sha Tsui, roughly 10euros a night, Augusters Lodge in Macau (a bit less than 10 euros a night)

transport: MTR, cost 10HDD to go to central from Tsim Sha Tsui, 25HDD to go to Lantau Island

clubbing: Lan Kwai Fong, the streets where you'll be able to find dozens of clubs and the mythic Bar Georges ("Meat bar" according to the Lonely Planet). Note that clubbing in HK is quite expensive. 150HDD++ We went to Sugar and DragonI, both were quite fun

food: try the Dim Sum at the Jade Garden, local speciality from 40HDD, really nice view on the harbour

sightseeings:

  • The peak, take a tram to there to admire HK from the top of the mountain, most famous viewpoint of HK
  • Hongkong Park: enjoy the lakes, the birds and the view of people practising tai chi in this relaxing park in the center of Hongkong
  • Aqua spirit: skybar at the top of a scyscrapper on Pekin's road. You can also have dinner there. Note that you need to spend at least 150HDD per person
  • Flower Market/Goldfish Market/Ladies Market: wander around Mong kok MTR station to find these markets.
  • Soho: next to Hongkong Center, take the World's longest escalator (800m) to explore the upper part of Hongkong, find nice restaurants and experience a different way of shopping, also famous for clubbing
  • Admiralty: nice place to find local food
  • Lantau Island: take the MTR all the way West to this island were you'll completely exit Hongkong's atmosphere, find a nice landscape and experience the view of the biggest seating buddha statue made of Bronze. Also a nice place if you're looking for nice beaches.
  • Tsim Sha Tsui and Nathan's road: nice place to walk in HK at night, neon lights everywhere, you can go down to the Avenue of Stars to walk along the harbour with Hongkong's skyline at the background

This is simply some of ideas of what you can do in Hongkong since there is much more to discover. I really appreciated this city, doing some street shopping (unlike in Singapore where is mostly malls), go clubbing , feel more much in Asia than anywhere in Singapore. Experience the food and magnifisence of the Buddha Statue on Lantau Island. This was a really short week-end but from what I've seen and what I've experienced I really would like to come back there one day. This city is really attracting and if the pollution cloud wasn't there permanently spoiling the view and damaging your lungs I would definitely say it is one of the best city I've been to in Asia (thus Singapore stays 1st..)..

Below are some pictures I've taken during my trip. And also a google map with the differents places I've been talking about so that you can find where it is. You can click, zoom in, zoom out directly on the map or use the larger map.
